Did you know ...
Super Eligibility
Are you eligible to receive superannuation guarantee payments?
As an employee you will generally receive “Superannuation Guarantee” payments, paid by your employer into a complying superannuation fund. The current superannuation guarantee rate is 9% of your earnings. Refer to the ATO website to find out more about calculating your super entitlements.
In summary, employers have to make these superannuation payments for:
- Employees aged between the ages of 18 and 70 who are paid $450 or more in a calendar month
- Employees aged under 18 years of age working more than 30 hours a week
If you’re eligible to receive superannuation guarantee payments, and you’re eligible for Choice of Fund, then you could join an Industry Super Fund.
Even if you are not currently employed, or you are self-employed, you can usually join an Industry Super Fund as a “Personal” or “Public” member. You can then transfer in (also known as a “rollover”) any super you have built up elsewhere.
Check the details of your chosen Industry Super Fund to determine if you can join.
